Singapore Day 6-- Japan Green Clinic, Lunch At Central (2008-12-10)
The night before KL developed symptoms of a cold. By the morning, his throat was very sore, he felt feverish with a runny nose. He decided to see the doctor and luckily there's an authorized clinic on the 10th floor of Paragon mall. The clinic is surprisingly large, modern and well run. Almost
all the staff were Japanese and all the patients but one were also
Japanese. The wait was however achingly long. After KL was
seen by a triage kind of nurse/doctor, he was directed to a large
waiting area where he waited an hour before his name was called to see
his doctor. How come every time you seem to wait forever in a
queue for anything, when it is your turn, it only takes a moment to do
your stuff? The consultation for KL only lasted five minutes top.
He got a lot of medication for his cold/flu and the bill came down
to S$177, good thing it was coverd by the insurance company,
whew!
We were starving when we left the clinic and didn't feel like
traveling far for lunch, so we went to Central, a Hong Kong style
coffee shop, at the B2 level of Takashimaya (
) across the street to grab
some chow. We didn't expect much from them but the food was
shockingly delicious. The stirfried beef and rice noodles had
that yummy smoky flavor from high heat wok frying and it tasted the
same as any good ones we had in Hong Kong. The braised beef was
not bad but could be more tender for my liking and the noodles were
springy and also tasted like the ones in Hong Kong. It was a very
yummy lunch.
After lunch, we walked around Orchard Road again and signed up for
the free tour at night at the Singapore Visitor Centre across our
hotel. Despite of the long hours we spent on Orchard Road, we
still ran out of time to cover all the shopping centres there!
