Hatchiko Bus (2005-04-30)

If you have the time and enjoy walking, the best way to go to Daikanyama (kanji) from Shibuya (kanji) is on foot.   It only takes about ten minutes to reach your destination (depending on which end of Shibuya you are in) and there are so many interesting shops, streets, alleys and people on the way to make the short walk finish in a blink.

If you prefer to use public transport, apart from trains and taxis, Hatchiko Bus would be a good choice.  The tiny bus with a doggie face, painted doggie characters on the sides and paw print on the display sign on the front of the bus serves Shibuya, Daikanyama and Ebisu.  The bus is named after the famous Hachiko, hence the dog theme.

You can catch one outside the east and west exits of JR Shibuya Station.  At just 100 Yen (US $1) for a single trip, it's both fun and the cheapest way to get to Daikanyama, or anywhere along its route for that matter.
