Singapore Day 7-- Noodle Place Restaurant, Kill Time At Central, To Airport (2008-12-12)
Last day in Singapore and our flight was for 1120 pm, so we practically had the whole day to roam. We got an extended check-out time free of charge so we didn't become "homeless" so early in the day.For lunch, I suggested congee for KL due to his flu thing.
There's a noodle place (literally called Noodle Place) in CentrePoint
that fits the bill. After perusing the menu, would you believe we
ordered more Chinese BBQ! We are BBQ junkies! Despite the
doctor telling KL to stay away from greasy and heavy food, he ordered
himself a combination BBQ meat with rice, and on top of that we added a
roast pork and duck platter! But I did get a bowl of congee to
balance out the heaviness of the meat.
The food was very good. It was no Crystal Jade, but still more
than decent. There was crispy and lean roast pork, juicy roast
duck and flavorful chicken, no disappointment there. I also
enjoyed my congee very much which had the right texture of a creamy
consistency.
After lunch we did a bit more window shopping at Lucky Plaza across
Wisma Atria (which have many electronics and cheap souvenirs stores)
before returning to Mandarin to check out.
To kill time before we headed to the airport, we spent a good two hours in Central where KL had his Hong Kong style char tsang teng coffee. One whiff and you know it's Hong Kong coffee, the aroma was unmistakable, and the taste confirmed it. We decided to leave early for the airport since the seats there are much more comfortable than the ones in Central and the malls!
The concierge at Mandarin the night before convinced KL that
catching a taxi to the airport cost about as much as a shuttle bus
(S$9/pp for shuttle vs S$15-20 for taxi). But she forgot to
factor in all those surcharges! The fare was indeed about S$16,
however all those surcharges added another 16 bucks to the bill!
