Carmel (2009-01-03)
We walked past Carmel on the 12th floor of Takashimaya (
) in Shinjuku (
) a million times yet never once thought of
buying their cakes until recently when their chocolate tarts in the
cold case caught my eye. Due to some malfunction of my
taste buds, I hate the taste of butter and cream (hence the rejection
of most cakes), but I do like a piece of dark bitter chocolate tart (if
the base doesn't taste like I'm eating chunks of butter).KL liked his Pistachio Mousse Cake and my chocolate tart was good too. The filling had the texture of ganache and intensely chocolatey which I liked a lot. The base was also crispy yet a little flaky with tolerable buttery flavor.
End of report.
P.S. I dunno how to type the
alpha symbol in front of the word Carmel, so I just renamed their
coffee shop to just Carmel, hahaha.
P.S 2. I also took three photos of the restroom near Carmel because it's just so bright and spacious and inviting!
