Gyuu No Tachijin Serves Fantastic Beef (2007-12-21)

Peter had said on the first day that he wanted to treat us to a nice dinner and asked us not to look at the prices so much but concentrate on the quality.  We suggested BBQ which got Rachel's enthusiastic approval.  The reason we chose Gyuu no Tachijin (GNT) was because it has been featured in gourmet shows on TV about their highest grade A5 Kuroge Wagyu which just looks so delicious.

GNT is located on one of the main streets in Shinjuku (kanji) but is easily missed because of its small street-level entrance to a set of stairs leading to the basement.  Luckily Rachel and Peter were quick to spot its signage and the surrounding landmark signs.

KL and I had never gone to a BBQ restaurant that served a variety of very good Wagyu (Japanese beef), so I had no idea it could be THIS tender, fatty and GOOOD.  Although I loved every cut of beef we ate, my favorite had to be the Shimofuri Karubi.  The evenly and heavily marbled slices just melted into a nice glob of cloud in the mouth bursting with the sweet and delicate taste of the heavenly meat.  I think one slice can add a pound to your thigh!

Thank you very much Peter and Rachel for such a scrumptious meal!  I definitely want to return.
