Chijigenkai Japanese Restaurant (2008-10-14)
If you wonder why this Japan-based blog has hardly any sushi photos, it's because this blogger doesn't eat raw fish! I like my seafood cooked, thank you very much. Therefore when KL and I eat out, we never go to a sushi restaurant
(although I've repeatedly offered to keep him company while he eats at
one). Of course that doesn't mean KL doesn't eat sushi, on the
contrary he almost always eats traditional Japanese food like sushi and
sashimi at dinners with friends and colleagues. But he never
carries the camera with him, so there are never any such pictures to
post here.
For a change of pace from our usual western fare, we chose a
Japanese restaurant to have lunch on a recent weekend.
Chijigenkai is located on the 14th floor of Takashimaya () in Shijuku
which boasts healthy cooking using quality locally grown vegetables and
raised chicken. Set lunches range from 1800Yen to 2300Yen plus a
la carte menu.
Food was beautifully presented but taste was completely predictable
and lacked
surprises. I did feel a little "healthier" after that lunch
though.
