Back From Our Vacation (2010-10-22)
Amid London Tube strike (while we were there) and Japanese government's warning to stay out of public places in London and Paris (among other European cities) due to terrorist threat, we had a great holiday.Twelve days may not seem like a long time to visit two cities, but when you do ALL-DAY walking, you could easily get exhausted and tired by the end of the trip.
London and Paris are a lot more enjoyable than I imagined, afterall
I'm not much of a "Europe" fan, I'm inclined to love Asian countries
more. But it turned out they were thoroughly interesting cities
with great sights that I would love to return!
We covered some basic grounds (touristy spots) in both cities but
there are still many places we didn't have time to visit, not to
mention the various kinds of food we hadn't gotten a chance to try.
The weather was good in general although it drizzled when we arrived
in London and Paris. I only had to use the brolly once in London,
the rest of the time was either overcast or barely spitting
occasionally. As Londen weather goes, it's already a blessing for
us. Paris only saw rain the first night, then it was sunny all
the way.
Both cities were not cold at all. We didn't have to use our
jackets even once but I was amazed to see how most Londoners and
Parisians wore sweaters, heavy coats and scarves. I thought
westerners were cold tolerant, I don't know how they stayed comfortable
under all those layers!
Of the roughly 3000 photos I took on this trip, it's a daunting
undertaking to sort them through, write caption and log them in
appropriate posts. To make it easier for myself, I'm gonna post
most of them in the order they were taken instead of finding all
relevant pictures and group them under one title; which means when we
visited the same place twice, that place's pictures will
appear in two different posts.
Today's pictures: inflight meal and some random London pictures=>
a
taste of what to follow (Paris photos in second half of the travelogue).
P.S. My computer can't type the British Pound sign, so I'll have to type GBP in place of it.
