Casutera Cake (2004-12-21)
Casutera cake is not uniquely Japanese. A Portugese man brought Castella to Japan in the 16th century and the sweet dessert has developed into the cake we come to know nowadays. This cake is well-known for its use of very good quality eggs in the making process. And it doesn't have the usual cream or icing as the topping. It is often sold in a log or slices and is popular as a gift to bring to a friend you are visiting.Casutera is one of the very few cakes I like. Although it
comes in several flavors, chocolate is my favorite. For those who
come to Japan and see casutera cake in department stores' food section,
try a small piece and see if you like bland cake as much as I.
