Our Blooming Bulbs (2005-05-02)
Last December we planted some bulbs for our Spring "garden". One of the two pots of tulips were killed last month after some stray cat dug the lot out and used the pot as its litter box! The remaining orange-red tulips are beautiful, as shown in the photo. We also planted a few daffodils specifically chosen by KL.
They are called Professor Einstein and didn't come out as orangy as the
picture on the packet shows which is a little disappointing, but quite
pretty nonetheless.
The bright yellow freesias from last year also bloomed spectacularly
without any help from us. I had not touched the pot for a year
and they just seemed to have multiplied on their own in the soil and
produced gorgeous fragrant flowers this Spring. I don't know a
more hassle-free and rewarding bulb to grow than freesia. If we
have a real garden, I shall plant lots and lots of freesias, the scent
alone is enough reason to welcome Spring with these wonderful flowers.
