Chocolate (2006-12-20)

Do you crave a certain food at times?  My biggest craving is chocolate after eating Italian food.  I don't know why that is, but pasta dishes often make me wanna have chocolate for dessert in a very bad way.

We had spaghetti one night and I so wanted a piece of chocolate after dinner and of course there was none in the house.  On the following weekend KL and I went to Shibuya (kanji) and loaded up on chocolate.  I chose brands that we have never had before, all imported, all dark chocolate.

KL likes dark chocolate, so he enjoyed the lot.  As for me, very dark chocolate tends to leave a "tart" aftertaste in my mouth.  Milk chocolate is definitely too sweet for me, so chocolate with a 50-60% cocoa content is what best suits my palate.  Those bars with a 75% cocoa or above are too intense for me.

Of the lot we ate, Valrohna was the smoothest and Cote d'Or Sensations Noir Orange was the most more-ish.  I just love chocolate infused with an orange flavor.  However both left a sour taste in my mouth.  Cafe Tasse Noir has the best sweetness/bitterness balance for me (which means more sweetness than bitterness) and no tart aftertaste, its texture is pretty silky too.  It is the only one I'm certain I'll buy again.  KL prefers truly dark chocolate and finds Cafe Tasse too sweet, but since I'm THE BOSS when it comes to food shopping, he'll just have to eat whatever I bring home.  Buwahahahaha!

Eat chocolate, be happy.
