Sun Yat-sen's statue

Every hour guards come out from behind the wall to replace the two standing guard of the statue

The guard on the left steps down to join the new ones

When the two old ones join the three new ones, they pay respect to Sun Yat-sen's statue

They exchange boyonets

More stylised moves

Flipping and twirling of the bayonets

Action complete

Old guards, accompanied by a new one march back to their room

The new guard steps up to his post

One last twirl of his rifle

The new guard now stands totally still for another 45 minutes before the next new guard comes to replace him

Once he finishes his moves on the step, a staff checks his feet to make sure they are in the exact place and have the right space apart, if not, he pushes the guard's feet for him

The staff also checks their uniform meticulously, straightening out any creases etc

Old and new

Taipei 101 as viewed from the steps of Sun Yat-sen memorial Hall

Core Pacific Shopping Center

Our 3-o'clock drinks at a quiet little café inside the shopping center

101 entrance

A tall book store called Page One, in 101 where I bought some books

Impressive columns and very high ceiling on the 4th floor food court

Lao Tang noodle shop

Dan Dan noodle and firey hot stewed pork hocks, very yummy

Absolutely delicious steamed spareribs with sweet potatoes, sticky rice and spices

Pork chop over rice with cold side dishes. I don't quite care for the cold tofu, vegies and stir-fried eggs, they remind me of left-overs
