Dinner In Kawaramachi (2009-04-14)

When we returned to Kyoto Station, KL and I had to go back to the hotel briefly to put away the breakfast we bought.  We joined Serlina and David again and agreed to check out Kawaramachi for dinner as per Serlina's suggestion early in the day.  She'd gotten a map from her hotel which shows lots of restaurants in the well-known nightlife district.

When we exited the station, they wanted to eat at the first restaurant they saw!  We didn't explore the area or even check out the restaurants shown on the map, which completely defeats the purpose of taking the trouble to go to Kawaramachi despite threatening rain in the first place!  Pastel looked like a decent enough restaurant to me and Serlina was really sold on their pasta set with all-u-can-eat bread, so I just shrugged and led the way inside.

Pastel is a coffee and cake shop which also makes some pasta (mostly spaghetti) dishes.  Its clientele is mainly teenagers and young couples at dinner hours.  If you are after real Italian food, Pastel is not the place to go.

Access: I think it's exit 2 in Kawaramachi Station, turn right once on street level and it'll be on the right soon.    Tel: 075-253-0361
