Two words often pop into mind when we go to higher-end restaurants: What Recession?
Take those expensive restaurants in Tokyo Midtown for example. Their food isn't exactly cheap, and yet there are lines and lines of customers at the doors. You never sense any trouble in the economy when you are surrounded by well-dressed people who are happily shelling out US$35-$50 for a lunch course.
Union Square Tokyo in Tokyo Midtown features American style cuisine,
but leaning toward a more French approach in my opinion. For the
lunch course of 3500Yen/US$35, you get an appetizer, an entree (main
course), dessert and tea/coffee. Click on the above picture to

The food was ok, not great. The fruit tomato in my salad was superbly sweet and the white wine jelly in the dessert was outstanding even though I don't usually enjoy the taste of alcohol. Those were the only two food items that impressed me. As for KL, I think he really enjoyed the disc of yuzu cheesecake while the rest of his food was meh.
