Peter Luger Steak House (2008-07-07)

I need not say much about Peter Luger as most people (certainly those who live in NYC) know about this restaurant.  We had our reservation but the restaurant looked empty as we were seated.  It filled up pretty quickily though, mostly with what looked like tourists.

The dining room has a rustic feel with aged wooden floor boards and wooden furniture.  The tables were comfortably spaced and large which makes eating there a joy.  Our server was prompt and friendly, delivering nothing like the rude service I read online.

We asked if we could share a Steak For Two (as we are small eaters and their steaks look big) and our server happily said yes and proceeded to take the rest of the order.  The steak arrived in a sizzling hot ceramic platter and I asked him if I could take a picture before he started serving the meat.  Again he was very nice and said sure, stepped back and waited for me to take the picture before dishing out the meat on our plates.

The thickest part of the steak was a little less than the medium we ordered but were told we could run the meat on the rim of the very hot platter to "cook" it more which we all did.  The steak was very flavorful and tender as expected.  But you know what?  I think the steak at Frankie and Johnnie's is equally, if not more, delicious.

Next time, we will take Marco to Frankie and let him decide which is better.
