Kyoto Tower Observatory, Home (2009-04-15)

We were given two complimentary tickets to the Observatory in Kyoto Tower when we checked into the hotel (otherwise admission is 770Yen/US$8 per adult), so we thought we would use them the morning before we checked out.

The Observatory isn't particularly high, nor is it very special.  It is however something different to do when in Kyoto and you'll have fun if looking at buildings from high up is your thing.

Coming back down to the ground level, we had time to kill so we returned to our room.  I suggested checking out early, but KL insisted we had plenty of time.  And of course we HADN'T.  I guess he never factored in the time getting lost to look for the (airport) bus stop.  We got to the stop right on departure time and the driver had to wait for KL who was getting the tickets.  At the end the bus was leaving one minute BEHIND schedule, a big no-no in Japan.  We made the busload of passengers wait for us again!

The ride took only 45 minutes, five minutes less than expected.  We found out there were still seats on the 1230 flight instead of our reserved 1330 one, so we quickly grabbed those seats so we could arrive at Haneda early enough to sample that Chinese lunch we missed on the first day.

Handy Hint: All airport bus stops are located behind Kyoto Station on the ground level outside Avanti (mall?).
