First Dinner At Hing Fat (2010-01-08)
After getting the blazer in Harbour City, it was past 9pm. We had just been in Hong Kong for a few hours and our orientation of Tsim Sha Tsui was still a bit fuzzy. Not knowing which restaurant to grab our first dinner, we went to our fail-safe Plan B: Chinese BBQ.Cantonese BBQ shops are so good in Hong Kong that you can go to
anyone and the quality won't be bad (to me anyway) although some famous
ones will be even more superb than the others. We stumbled across
Hing Fat and went straight inside.
It's basically a Cha
Tsan Ten with an expansive live seafood and BBQ menu. The
suckling pig we ordered was SOOOOO GOOOOD! The skin was thin and
crispy; and the meat juicy, not over-seasoned and lean. The roast
goose was also great and much cheaper than famous Yung Kee's.
Even the blanched choi sum was yummy because it's one of my favorite
vegetables.
After dinner, while walking back to Hyatt I bought a stick of curry
fish balls, a classic Hong Kong snack that I hadn't eaten for maybe 10
years! Though they weren't as springy as I hoped, their taste
brought back lots of memories growing up in Hong Kong.
