Jamie's Italian (2014-12-25)
I'm a big fan of Jamie Oliver. I have his cookbooks, use his recipes, watch his shows and follow his Food Tube channel. I missed going to his restaurant in London and I ain't gonna miss the one in Singapore.
I dragged KL to Jamie's Italian in VivoCity for our first lunch in
Singapore. We arrived five minutes before they opened but the
servers were already seating customers who had formed a small
line.
The restaurant is quite large and the decor is kinda retro
English. Planks are heavily used as serving platters, just like
the way Jamie does in his cooking shows.
We ordered a bread basket and their signature Antipasti
Planks.
The servings were small and the food was meh (shock!). It was
overpriced
and way overrated. Our neighbors' pasta and main dishes did not
look particularly special, so we decided we would pass.
I was disappointed (too high an expectation?), so much so
that I canceled my plan of trying the one in Hong Kong which has a
similar menu.
