Christmas Cakes (2005-12-25)
A sponge cake with strawberries is as essential an item on a Christmas table in Japan as turkey is in US. Every year many Japanese buy ready-made cakes or order special ones from cake shops to eat on Christmas. These cakes go for around $40 to $70, some even more expensive if
they are extravagantly decorated. Too bad I don't like cakes, or
I might get KL to buy one this year. I think I'll just get a
couple of slices of the very fine apple pie from Takano to celebrate
this Christmas.
