I don't know what kind of chicken they sell in Hong Kong, I just know it is very flavorful. The skin is yellow and crunchy, the meat is very fragrant. They taste far better than the chicken one gets in the US, Australia or Japan. So when we are in Hong Kong, we always make an effort to eat chicken. We returned to Chuen Cheung Kui for their famous chicken. They
really are the pro who know what they are doing. We arrived on a
weekday night (8pm) without reservation and it wasn't good. There
were a lot of walk-ins waiting for a table already. We finally
got ours close to 9pm.
This time we opted for their set dinner for two again but decided to
forgo their famous salt baked chicken and chose "Ba Wong Chicken" which
is chicken with lots of shredded scallions and ginger on top. The
set gave us a choice of chicken plus one dish from a large menu and a
pot of soup also of our choice and Chinese soup dessert, all for just
HK$168. We also ordered two bowls of rice and the total came down
to HK$205/US$26 including service charge.
The chicken was SOOOO GOOOOD! I ate the skin, fat, meat,
scallions and all, it was pure BLISS! The grouper and broccoli
stirfry dish was also very good and the serving's generous. We
were stuffed to the gill when we left. A very satisfying meal it
was, and inexpensive.
