Patisserie Paris S'eveille (2010-07-25)

Yoshiaki Kaneko studied three years in France to learn how to make cakes, returned to Japan and opened up this very popular cake shop in Jiyugaoka.

The shop, with seating area, often sees long lines at afternoon tea time.  Photograpy of the cake counter is not allowed (I think more for the reason of not blocking traffic than stopping "spies"), but the rest of the shop is okay.

As soon as we entered the shop, a staff welcomed us warmly and asked us if we were eat-in or take-away.  Being the former, we were asked to choose our cakes from the counter, place the order with the counter staff and choose our table (there were a few empty ones that day around 1:30pm).

Once we were seated, a drinks menu was brought to us.  KL ordered coffee and I darjeeling tea.  Our cakes arrived swiftly, followed by the beverage.

My chocolate cake (I think it's called Fig Orange) was yummy!  It had the same intense chocolateness and texture as Jean Paul Hevin's Guayaquil, but this one also had candied orange peel and dried fig in it.  KL also liked his coffee cake with a bed of nuts at the bottom.

We had ourselves a very enjoyable afternoon tea.
