Royal Observatory Greenwich (2010-10-28)
The second stop of our half-day tour was the Royal Observatory Greenwich.I don't know jack about the significance of this seemingly very important and influential establishment although I have heard of the phrase "Greenwich time".
According to www.nmm.ac.uk/places/royal-observatory/: "The Royal Observatory, Greenwich is the home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian of the World, making it the official starting point for each new day and year. It is also home to London's only planetarium, the Harrison timekeepers and the UK's largest retracting telescopes." So that's about the gist of it.
If you would like to learn more about the Observatory, you're
reading the wrong person's blog!
P.S. Too many photos, need two posts to finish them.
